Rod Stewart Blondes Have More Fun
I am not aware of any posters or artwork being produced for this party.
It was a lot of fun, but apparently the producestress was
not in good condition, arriving just before 8 and leaving
before 11. The party started without her, while 3 DJs arrived
early and had nothing better to do than "test the equipment".
Once the planned sets were over, The DJs kept the sound system warm
for Puyo as we kept him open well past closing time.
The gift exchange was not well represented, but
an Onyako Club "box" set including over 10 lps and 10s of 7" singles
was traded for a Jamacian press of Peter Tosh, Upsetters with Sly and
Robbie and some other Jamaican lps. I couldn't help but feel the deal
was more than a little lopsided, but considering the recipient of the
Onyako Box Set was poorly dressed in drag, it seemed ok.

"Lumpy Gravy" was presented as a roughly 3:45 excerpt including "The Way I See It, Barry/Duodenum/Oh No" and ending just after the phrase "a little nostalgia for the old folks.
"Well (Baby Please Don't Go)" began from Lennon's count in and
"What Kind of Girl Do You Think We Are" begins over the
sound of the audience from "Well (Baby Please Don't Go)".
The Central Scrutinizer introductions were used for both
"Joe's Garage" tracks.
"Dumb All Over" begins with the 'Hotel Room' phrase
spoken at the end of "The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing".
All other pieces were presented roughly in their entirety.

The night before Shin'ichi Isohata, Reiko Imanishi and Gianni Gebbia had performed with alto Saxophonist Ryoko Ono at Peacenik cafe. After that performance Ono earned the new nickname, "Mount Fuji" because Gianni felt she played with the power of a giant volcano and was Japan's musical equivalent to the famous dormant volcano.
A highschooler who goes by, "Yoshii" came to study Saxophone from Gianni's performance. Amazingly, she had the courage to bring her own tenor Saxophone to the show and join in a final jam session. Although still at a very primitive stage in her development, the power of her enthusiasm and the confidence she possessed to take out her own instrument AFTER Gianni had just blown all our minds, lead to her being nicknamed after another famous Japanese volcano, which is far from dormant, Sakura-Jima. We all hoped that Sakura-Jima could become the disciple of Mt. Fuji, but it appears further evidence of dedication is needed.
It was a warm, down home, avant-garde experience that had members of the audience joining in and an 80 year old man stated that the concert had completely changed his ideas about music! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? If that is not a success, I'm not sure what is. Another man said that if he closed his eyes, he heard a Shakuhachi bamboo flute with Koto, rather than a Saxophone. It was also a first for many to see the Koto performed at such close range. Usually Koto concerts in modern day Japan are reserved for hallowed concert halls, and expensive ticket prices. It is certainly a rare case that an evening of what would normally be considered 'difficult' music, could leave so many people with a smile on their face.
"...a surprising concert in an Unagi restaurant in Nagoya! Me, Reiko on koto and Shin'ichi on guitar. 1st set, Shah and Daigo. We ate great Unagi and played on a simple and traditional ambiance with Otosan's belly voice comments on the background. Really cool. Thanks to Shah!"
-Gianni Gebbia
"It was very warm great session
with unagi power!"
- Reiko Imanishi
"The Unagi of Asahiya was too wonderful taste,
I wanted to eat more
I will really eat the biggest set next time!!"
"[S. Shah's] performance has a very good feeling.
Americana with an Ethnic flavour,
the mood of the mysterious Orient.
Sometimes I hear Oriental minimal music.
Daigo's contrabass sound was also good
and powerful
like Mt. FUJI too!!
Sakura-jima girl is too,
Nagoya has too many big volcanos!!
-Shin'ichi Isohata
It was a crazy loud punk rock party, but Blasting Rod played a free concert and were heartily welcomed back for an encore performance at some unspecified future date.
